Spend your Saturday at the Illuminate Gallery Opening Reception
A Saturday in early May: the pesky Pittsburgh weather is finally taking a turn for the better (well at least for the next few days), the influx of traffic from the NFL draft in April and last weekend’s marathon is finally gone, and you find yourself wondering what to do with your Saturday afternoon.
There are endless choices, the steel city has no shortage of entertainment, food, museums and the like. We are here to say that attending the Illuminate Gallery opening reception at The Castle Consortia in McKees Rocks is the perfect choice.
Now we know what you’re thinking, “why is an afternoon at Illuminate such a great way to spend the precious fleeting moments of a peaceful Saturday afternoon?” But hear us out, there are actually FIVE reasons why the Illuminate opening reception is a wonderful way to spend your Saturday.
Reason number one: experience local cuisine
Bob’s Diner will be providing appetizers for this event. You can get a taste of some local art while enjoying a taste of a Pittsburgh based restaurant.
Reason number two: enjoy a local music group
RML Jazz, a Pittsburgh based music group, will be performing for this event. The soothing sounds of jazz provide a great background for perusing the art.
Reason number three: show support to local artists
Illuminate features artwork from over thirty local Pittsburgh area artists. Whether you are an avid collector or casual admirer of art, the wide variety of styles and mediums featured in the gallery ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy!
Reason number four: connect and engage with your community
It is a widely accepted aphorism that “it takes a village” but it’s not as widely known how to build a village. Going to community events gives you an opportunity to meet others with shared interests and foster new connections.
Reason number five: it is free to attend
This event, hosted at The Castle in McKees Rocks, is a free event! There is no required admission to attend; however, donations are accepted, The Realm Community Engagement Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
So as you see, there’s not one, not two, not three, not four, but FIVE fantastic reasons why the Illuminate opening reception is a superb way to spend your Saturday afternoon. If you enjoy food, music, friends, and fine art, join us from 2pm-6pm on Saturday May 9th at The Castle for Illuminate!
